Our home

Located just east of the city of Oaxaca in San Francisco Tutla (not far away from the famous tree, el Tule) OFEA is a fully enclosed compound surrounded by walls approximately 8-10 feet tall. Victor and Debra have their home and live on the property. OFEA has 5 bungalows for student residences.

Property includes recreational areas:

  1. - Solar heated swimming pool designed for relaxation

  2. - Pool furniture

  3. - Pool towels

  4. - Pool Restrooms

  5. - Outdoor/Pool shower

  6. - Exercise room with treadmills, elliptical, free weights, etc.

  7. - Luxurious gardens of various micro-climates

The property

The interior land between the bungalows is an English garden style design with a cactus garden as well. With multiple patios and sitting areas, there is also a giant Palapa where classes and communal meals will be held.

In the main second area is a solar heated relaxing pool, an exercise room, 2 additional ½ baths and an outdoor shower for rinsing off after swimming. Ample quantities of pool chairs, tables, and umbrellas available. Surrounding the pool area is a cactus garden with works of art made by local artists. OFEA also has a “Vivero” or gardening area for students wish to teach children about plants, composting and gardening.

Meals

Common meals are served at the Palapa. Breakfast is generally be at home. A buffet style breakfast, students can choose between a variety of offerings both traditional American and Oaxacan options. Fresh fruit, homemade yogurt and granola is a staple.

Our bungalows

Our non-profit organization offers comfortable and well-equipped bungalows for students participating in our community service and learning programs in Oaxaca, Mexico. Each bungalow is outfitted with Wi-Fi to ensure students can stay connected.

While cooking is not a requirement, students who enjoy preparing their own meals will find a full kitchen in each bungalow, complete with a cooktop, oven, full-sized refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, and a range of cooking and eating utensils, including dishes, pots, pans, and cups for both indoor and outdoor use. Additionally, each bungalow provides hot and cold water dispensers with a 5-gallon water jug for convenience.

Bungalow 1 "El Estudio"

This first floor bungalow can sleep up to 2 people. A sofa sleeper folds down into a comfortable double bed. A second couch has a pull-out twin bed that pulls for sleep and slides underneath for a more spacious living room.

Bungalow 2 "Cielito Lindo"

This second story bungalow can sleep up to 4 people. It has a private bedroom with a queen size bed (sleeps 2). With a comfortable fold-down sofa bed (1) in the living room, an additional twin can be added to the spacious area (1).

Bungalow 3 "Frank Lloyd Wrigth (FLW)"

This second story, amazingly spacious 1-bedroom retreat has a living room with two walls of floor to ceiling windows overlooking spectacular gardens.

Bungalow 4 "La Escuelita"

This bungalow is decorated with Asian themed art. This is a first story, cozy 1-bedroom, 1 bath accommodation.

A first floor unit, this bungalow can sleep up to 4 people. It has 2 private bedrooms with 2 bathrooms; one bathroom is located in the common area area of the bunglaow and the second is off of a bedroom.
